Josh & Jimmy // The Lodge at Suttle Lake // Sisters, Oregon // October 2014
“Abby is an amazing person with indescribably remarkable wedding planning and design skills! The finest wedding announcements and invitations I’ve ever seen! She has everything a person could want for his or her wedding to rent! Abby is the best!!!” – Josh (groom)
“Abby was great and made our special day even more special! You can book her with confidence that things will get done and she really knows what she is doing! Thank you for everything Abby!” – Jimmy (groom)
I worked with Josh & Jimmy literally from day one after their proposal, which they even sent me their proposal video – Josh proposed to Jimmy on a beach in Hawaii in May of 2013. They set their wedding date for October of 2014 so we had ample time to plan! Josh & Jimmy like the rustic look, but also elegance. Deciding on colors and a theme came so easy as they already had a great sense of their personal style and what they wanted their wedding to look like. Our first order of business was venue selection. Josh was originally from Grants Pass (southern Oregon) – Jimmy from Warrenton (northern tip of western Oregon). They wanted somewhere that their guests could stay since many were going to be traveling. I had planned a wedding at the Lodge at Suttle Lake in 2012 and having lodging options on site, plus being on a lake, a lodge, rustic-ness.. ding ding ding – it was everything they were wanting!
Once we had the venue and date secured it was on to booking other vendors and designing save the dates. I’ve always wanted to use wood veneer for paper goods and with Josh & Jimmy wanting a natural rustic look, it was the perfect opportunity! Their invites were also unique, a tri-fold brochure type that included all their travel info, lodging and important wedding weekend details! To save on cost, the invites were printed on a nice linen paper, but to incorporate the wood, I made hang tags to tie around their set to hold together the brochure and loose RSVP card. I also designed a custom logo for them that was incorporated throughout all aspects. Another paper good item I designed was a ‘weekend schedule’ door hanger that hung on each lodge room and cabin door as guests arrived. It included helpful information about the weekend including times of events, recommended things to do and places to eat. Josh & Jimmy also rented several items from my inventory including rustic wood slab chalkboards, cornhole lawn game with matching bags, burlap bunting banners, mason jars and a suitcase for cards. I hand wrote on all of their chalkboards for them which included their logo, cake table, bar, menu for the buffet and welcome table.
So much planning went into Josh & Jimmy’s wedding. Come wedding day, everything was set and ready to go and the day went so incredibly smooth. All the guests were so loving and truly wanted to celebrate love and Josh & Jimmy. I was so honored to be apart of this special weekend wedding and getting to witness the love and support from close family and friends, listening to heartfelt speeches and cutting a rug on the dance floor – there wasn’t a dull moment! I wish you two forever love and happiness together! Congratulations best friends. #lovewins
