hello. we were in a magazine
I’m so excited to share that the magazine spread in Oregon Bride Magazine that I had the opportunity to dream up and design is finally published! The editor of Oregon Bride contacted ae creative in August of 2014 to see if we’d be interested in dreaming up and coordinating the Unveiled section for the Spring/Summer 2016 edition of Oregon Bride. It’s a two-page spread that has a color palette and theme. Typically there are 5-6 fabulous wedding-related items that fit the color and theme. I of course said YES and got to work! I wanted to showcase how beautiful Central Oregon is and show couples that sourcing local made, local grown, sustainable goodies for their wedding can and is gorgeous! After all, if you love where you live, you want to take care of it and support small business owners that also call this place home. I came up with the theme of “Native Crush” [I’m a native Oregonian, and love it here!]
I had the opportunity to select vendors for this spread to tell them my vision and see if they’d want to participate, of course, no one turned the opportunity down. I wanted to showcase invites, dessert, florals, rings, a wedding favor and a event recycling company. For invites, this was a pretty easy pick since we custom design invites in house here at ae creative! I used wood veneer and recycled paper. The calligraphy was done by My Fair Letters who conveniently shares studio space with us! For dessert, I choose Central Oregon’s best, Foxtail Bakeshop, who always uses fresh, local and organic as much as possible! For florals I selected a native, nature lover, home floral growing company, Heirloom Floral. For the wedding favor, I selected Lava Love Soaps. They are locally made with ingredients all from Oregon. For the rings I choose Pave in downtown Bend. I wanted to use an Oregon Sunstone for the gem and they took that idea and designed a custom ring! I also learned that an Oregon sunstone is unique because it’s the only sunstone that has copper in it – fun fact. For the event recycling I of course used The Broomsmen! Here are some images of the magazine, as well as images I took on my phone while styling the products for the shoot.
The photoshoot took place at Acorn Studios with Kacy Baxter in Portland. That morning The Broomsmen and I loaded up the goodies and drove up to Portland. Allison with Heirloom Floral was conveniently already going to be in Portland so she met us there with the florals.
The Broomsmen didn’t end up being featured on the Unveiled page, but rather a separate article highlighting their offerings and service. Way cool!
This magazine is the Spring/Summer 2016 issue of Oregon Bride. It can be picked up at most local area stores. You can check here >> find a store << to see if it’s for sale at your favorite store. If you check out the magazine, please let us know what you think of the concept and design!
