hello. this is about Marian
My interest in creating art first started getting me into trouble when I was a little kid and I decided I would pull up the linoleum and create hidden drawings underneath. A few years later, I decided to etch beautiful designs into the wooden porch railing my dad had just installed. As a teenager, I would appear to be “doing my homework” but was really just doodling around the margins. I also took an interest in graffiti art and at my most rebellious moments found a few bridges that looked like they needed some color. Luckily, I grew into more “legal” interests like painting cookies, plating food, making jewelry, coordinating large dinner parties for 40+ friends, and flower arranging. I also spend quite a bit of my free time making gifts for people – taking something they enjoy and making it come to life. This has included creating a chalk pastel drawing of a famous drummer, sculpting a giant dinosaur bust for my parents’ entryway, and making a wooden ukulele for my favorite three-year-old.
While artistic pursuits have always been my favorite pastimes, my favorite jobs have always required efficiency and detail-oriented work. While leading outdoor trips for a travel company, I earned the nickname the “Mair-chine” for getting jobs done fast and efficiently. I’ve also had experiences with start-up companies where I most enjoyed and excelled in opportunities to optimize systems for production and distribution. Then a few years ago, I started being asked to help design and coordinate weddings for friends, and friends of friends. Strangely enough, my experience coordinating and planning for my jobs in other arenas and my eye for staging and design, lent well to wedding and event coordination. I love getting to take an artistic vision that is close to someone’s heart and help them create it in “real time” for their special event. I’m excited to work with you… and I promise to leave the spray paint at home.
